Mind and Body Health

Tai Chi:

Tai Chi is sometimes described as "meditation in motion." Originally developed in China as a form of martial arts, this graceful form of exercise become increasingly popular both as a basic exercise program and as a complement to other health care methods. Health benefits include stress reduction, greater balance and increased flexibility.
Tai chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise. To do tai chi, you perform a defined series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each movement or posture flows into the next without pausing.

Who is Tai Chi for?
If you're trying to improve your general health, you may find tai chi helpful as part of your program. Tai Chi is generally safe for people of all ages and levels of fitness offering both physical and mental benefits, such as:

  • Reduces stress
  • Increases flexibility
  • Improves muscle strength and definition
  • Increases energy, stamina and agility
  • Increases feelings of positive well-being

Breathwork:

This form of Breathwork teaches you about becoming present.  It allows you to release the mind and come fully into your body.  It starts your energy moving by oxygenating the blood and stimulating the hypothalamus gland and other energy centers, or chakras in the body.  As your energy begins to move it can cause a dynamic electrical sensation in parts of the physical body.  You become aware of the vibration of your energy.  Working with your energy this way opens up your heart and begins to raise your vibration from lower frequencies such as fear, grief and sadness, to higher frequencies of joy, gratitude and love.

Healing Sessions utilize a deep and rhythmic breath to balance the brain and raise the level of your energetic vibration. As you begin to open the energy centers in the body, you release unwanted physical, emotional and mental energies, or blocks that may be causing pain, upset or suffering in life.  Conscious Breathing leads to a releasing of compulsive patterns and self defeating belief systems, allowing you to live in the clarity of the present rather than the pain of the past.

The 1-Hour Vacation® based on The Feldenkrais Method® of movement education

The Feldenkrais Method®  teaches the means to take control of your life, have choices, and make the process of personal growth more enjoyable. By changing your movement, your perceptions and your behavior, the Feldenkrais Method ® empowers you by giving you the tools to heal yourself from the inside-out.

The Feldenkrais Method® is divided into 2 modalities- Awareness Through Movement® and Functional Integration®.

In Awareness Through Movement exercises (called lessons) the teacher verbally guides you through a sequence of movements in basic positions: sitting or lying on the floor, standing or sitting in a chair. These gentle movement exercises are designed to identify habits that are no longer useful, or are harmful, and find options that are easier, more comfortable, and more pleasurable. This is beneficial not only for movement habits, but also habits of thought or behavior.

Functional Integration is a one-to-one learning process that is communicated through slow, gentle touch. This is useful for people with specific needs or those who want to perform and feel better physically, mentally and emotionally.
